I Really Like It When Library Websites Have This

Librarianship is all about sharing knowledge and resources, and I think it’s great when library websites post this.

Government shutdown will close LOC and its websites

News from the Library of Congress September 27, 2013 Advisory: Possible Federal Shutdown In the event of a temporary shutdown of the federal government, beginning Tuesday, October 1, all Library of Congress buildings will close to the public and researchers. All public events will be cancelled and web sites will be inaccessible. # # # PR 13-A06 09/27/13 ISSN 0731-3527

There’s a current thread on code4lib about how a government shutdown will effect linked data and semantic web applications. Kind of scary how far reaching the government shutdown is for an internet filled with linked government data. :/

Library Holiday Staff Party

A colleague and myself was tasked with creating a lively playlist for our staff holiday party. This is it:

My colleague removed the 4 Skinz holiday song and added a great James Brown holiday record. Regardless, I still think this was a success.

Props to another colleague who recommended The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York. If it was up to me, we would listen to nothing but Slayer’s Seasons in the Abyss and a couple of Burzum records for a holiday party.

Happy holidays to all!
